Ergonomics in the office, what can be done? and why is it important?

In terms of ergonomics, there are both office layouts and workshop layouts, very often complete workstations are considered.

To facilitate all handling, to improve working conditions, to limit health risks, ergonomics plays a key role.

For a screen worker, this will be limited to general rules which are,

  • a height adjustable desk,
  • a screen that is well positioned and properly installed at eye level,
  • an ergonomic chair, preferably with armrests,
  • ergonomic accessories:, keyboard, mouse, screen lifter, footrest, to adjust the worker's position perfectly.

By adopting the right posture at work and with the appropriate materials and equipment, it is the physical and moral health of the person who wins.

The employer, meanwhile, also gains in quality of work, also in productivity and somewhere, in humanity too, thus taking into account the human factor and health in his company.

Occupational medicine therefore offers training in gestures and postures, many employers have already trained employees, who thus improve working conditions for all.

Investments are not too expensive compared to the well-being they can provide.

Health comes first, and it must also go through the use of tools designed to limit all the risks and all the harm that certain work tasks generate.

Office layout advice is given, lighting is also important for a pleasant working environment, especially if the office does not have natural light, which can therefore prove to be a problem for the employee. .

If, conversely, the office has windows, the screen will always be placed perpendicular to the windows, to avoid reflections which cause eye problems.

Of course and as a reminder, it is also imperative to respect the breaks which are recommended for all people who work more than 4 hours in a row on a computer.

You have to get into the habit of changing your gaze in general every 25 minutes, so you have to move to limit your sitting position.
